  1. Tim says:

Clyde, were you as heartbroken after recording this as I am after listening to it? What other questions did you want to ask him?

  2. clyde says:

    Hey Tim,

I was mainly sad about my conduct, and because I wasn’t able to communicate my opinion effectively. Ram seemed to be wanting to make a sandbox type game, which has some merits, although I personally tend not to be into that type of game design. That’s not a problem. The problem I think was that we both were coming from such different paradigms we didn’t understand each other.

About the questions… I was asking the same questions I asked the other Ashcanners besides Paul Tevis, because no one (besides Paul) sent me texts when I requested them last year. So I went in cold with the same generic questions. I hated doing that, and I think some of the interviews it shows that I don’t do cold well.

I won’t be doing that this year. I’ll likely be talking to more ashcanners as I think some of the more interesting games that were being worked on last year were at the Ashcan Front. This year I won’t be doing cold interviews because the Ashcan Front is on it’s feet now. Not that I have anything to do with that, releasing these shows almost half a year later. *grins*

  3. I was so frustrated that he kept NOT answering the question you were asking. It wasn’t you; I understood perfectly well what you were asking. I still don’t, however, have any idea what his game is about. The inverted dice pool mechanic sounds interesting, I’ll say that much, but he didn’t explain it well enough to get an idea of how it works.

I don’t think he understood the discussion jargon that we take for granted. Anymore, i have a sort of game design and theory definitions 101 that I drop on people. It’s not to “show them the new way” or any arrogant crap like that, it’s more so that they can understand me because my language has changed.
