Show051: Interview with Chris Perrin and Clyde L. Rhoer
This show was recorded at Gen Con for Cannon Punture by Chris Perrin. Chris recently left Cannon Punture on good terms, and I checked in with him to see if Cannon Punture had the audio of this show and planned to run it. When I found out he still had the file I asked him if I could run it. Chris and Rich both gave me permission, so here it is.
This is an interview about my ashcan, Silence Keeps Me A Victim, and Chris’s ashcan, Messiah. We go off the path a bit, but not too far.
Show047: Interview with Ron Edwards
Here’s an interview with Ron Edwards that I recorded at Gen Con 2008. It’s about half the time of the first interview I did with Ron, but still packed full of interesting information. In this show he corrects some info I’ve given before, plus we discuss Creative Agendas, and Actual Play. Then we discuss GM-ing in a Narritivist game via 4 types of responsibility needed for play; Descriptional Authority, Content Authority, Situational Authority, and Plot Authority.
Ron also mentions posts by Frank T, and Frank Tarcikowski. As you can see there’s a lot of posts to go through… I just don’t have the time to dig, but at least I can point towards the right direction.
I also needed to remove the fridge noise, I couldn’t hear it live, hopefully it won’t flip Macklin out and make him kill things.
Show045: Interview with Justin D. Jacobson
Here’s the second interview from Gen Con. I think there’s about Five more. This is with Justin D. Jacobson from Blue Devil Games, and One Bad Egg, and the creator of the well written Bullseye ashcan. You’ll likely hear me talking about Bullseye in Janurary via… well… via something secret.
In this show, we talk about licenses, what they are, and why you might want to use them. I find this interview interesting looking back as it is from before the public unveiling of One Bad Egg, which is something Blue Devil Games, and Evil Hat Productions, put together to sell 4th edition D+D products and insulate their main products from the GSL. Definitely some interesting stuff here. However we don’t just discuss the GSL, but the OGL, the d20 SRD, Creative Commons, The Bullseye License, and the Amagi License.
This is another one where I was not adequately prepared, so you’ve been warned. Thanks to Justin for going above and beyond to make this happen.
Show028: Interview with Jason Walters
This is the last of the Gen Con interviews, and the last of the Ashcan Front interviews to boot. I talk with Jason Walters about his game, “You Brought This On Yourself,” a game based in Slasher film fiction. I recorded this Gen Con Sunday, and I think we could have gone a bit longer but I was trying to get done in time to also meet Kevin Allen Jr. I think. I didn’t make it. It’s a shame as I think we were just starting to move to some interesting territory. Although I do believe there is some really interesting stuff in the interview especially when Jason hits on different deconstructions of slasher movies. I know I had never really considered them very deeply until after talking with him.
Show027: Interview with Ram Hull
Here’s the interview I did with Ram Hull at Gen Con last year.
Show025: Interview with Ron Edwards and Vincent Baker
I’m going to do notes and links for this one tomorrow, but I wanted to get this out so I could listen to it at work tonight.
Show024: Interview with Jeff Lower
Here is my shortest interview ever. I spoke with Jeff Lower, one of the folks from the Ashcan Front at Gen Con. Jeff is one third of the Sons of Kryos and the creator of Giants. On his show their segments usually don’t go over 15 minutes, and that’s how this interview went also.
This is another one from Gen Con that got screwed up so you’re going to hear hiss as I had to use The Levelator to boost Jeff up on my microphone.
Show023: Interview with Darren Watts
We’re back. The site has been transferred to the new computer and as promised here is a new show. I sat down with Darren Watts, President of Hero Games at Gen Con. We talked about how Hero is designed as a very large toolkit, what the heck Indie means, and several Hero products. If you hear a repetitive thumping that’s Darren punctating his speech by thumping his hand on the desk in karate chop motion. Kind of like those 70’s Steve Austin dolls. He might have had to buy the hotel a new desk, but it was certainly indicative of his passion for Hero.
Show022: Interview with Paul and Danielle Czege plus Matt Synder
3 weeks. Wow. I didn’t think I’ve been goofing with my computer that long. Here’s one with Paul, Danielle, and Matt the folks behind the Ashcan Front. I’ll do links and stuff later, but I need to take a quick nap and then head back to Geek.kon.
Show021: Interview with Chris Moore and Michael Lingner
Here’s the next of the Ashcan Front interviews. I talk with Chris Moore and Michael Lingner about their game, “Psi Run.” This one may be a little on the quiet side. We recorded it in Michael and Chris’s hotel room while Chris’s son was sleeping in the next room. Maybe more later… time for me to sleep.
